What does the forest hold
Some people tend to use the forest as a dump. Drag the layers on top of one another and see what has been found in the forest!
Finns have traditionally had a habit of ‘losing’ their useless belongings in the forest. A walk through a forest can reveal unimaginable things that people have tried to keep hidden from sight. Items left in the forest no longer belong to anyone and disappear into the wild. If the need arises, you too can escape into the forest, away from the prying eyes of others…
Some people find the landfill fees to be too steep, yet they go to great lengths to dump their rubbish in the forest. Rubbish is unsightly, dangerous to wildlife and hikers, and a nuisance to forest management. In addition, much of today’s rubbish consists of slowly decomposing metal and plastic objects that will remain a burden in the forest even for the next generation. These can release toxic forever chemicals, or they can break down into microplastics and end up in the food chain.
