PEFC certification
Most of the commercial forests in Finland are certified under the national forest certification system PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification Schemes). The Finnish PEFC system was accepted into the international PEFC system in 2000.
The PEFC system covers all areas of forest certification, namely demands on the forest management and use, the verification of the origin of the wood raw material used for products, and the independent and competent auditing of the aforementioned aspects. The criteria are based on the pan-European principles of sustainable forest management.
