Paper is just paper – right?
There are thousands of types of paper intended for a multitude of different uses. Examine and test different paper grades – what could you use them for?
Paper and wood products develop as needs change. Although the use of paper has decreased, it is still manufactured in thousands of different grades. The type of fibre used, its treatment and finishing produce different qualities in paper. The difference between paper and board is that paper is used for printing and board for packaging purposes. Paper and board products include, among others, newsprint, graphic paper for artbooks, impermeable board for beverage packaging, and absorbent hygienic tissue paper. Finland is one of the world’s largest exporters of paper and board. Publication papers, such as magazine paper, newsprint, and fine paper, remain a major export article. After use, paper and board can be recycled multiple times into new products. In fact, over 90 per cent of used paper and board is collected for further use in Finland.
