Moving on waterways

Everyone may move freely on waterways and ice. You can go boating and swimming and relax on the beach – provided that moving around is allowed in the area. On water, you can anchor temporarily, and you can use the water as utility water and for washing. However, there may be limitations in nature conservation areas and areas used by the Finnish Defence Forces. Even on the water you may not cause undue disturbance to other people or wildlife or rev a motorboat near residences. In particular, you must ensure that you allow birds to nest in peace.
