Horses in the forest
Riding a horse is also included in everyone’s rights, even on private roads, unless separately forbidden with a barrier and signs. However, horse hooves can easily break trail surfaces, and tree roots are easily damaged in forests, sometimes even badly. For this reason, you should agree with the landowner if you wish to go riding, and this is mandatory if the riding is repeated, organised or causes more than minor damage to the terrain and roads. This means that, for example, a professional stable may not organise off-road riding treks under everyone’s rights. The Public Order Act forbids riding on public exercise trails and other similar trails.
